”Art allows me the freedom to breathe into life’s possibilities,
without limitations”~

Lisa Stent ~ Mixed Media Artist

Kia ora

My inspiration for creating art is visualising someone, somewhere, captivated by one of my creations and truly feeling it move, surprise, uplift or intrigue them

I want my artworks to remind you of something, maybe an experience, to take you on a journey, spark a bit of magic in your world, inspire you, or simply for you to enjoy the textures and colour

That is my dream

I want my art to reflect life in all of it’s layers

I want you to see what you see, not necessarily what I see

But mostly I want you to enjoy the visual and textural experience, whatever that means to you

A bit about my art …

I love mixed media! Playing with textures, collage, stamps, stencils, inks, pastels. grunge, watercolour and acrylics.

Infusing my art with words, numbers, symbols, sacred geometry and unexpected surprises peeking through the layers, really makes me happy!

I consider myself an intuitive artist, my interpretation of this is that I never know what the outcome will be, even if I start with a plan. Most of my artworks go through many transformations before I arrive at completion, and somehow I instinctively know when to call it done. I feel like my best work is when I don’t think, just do

A bit about me …

I was born in Aotearoa under a Pisces Sun, Libra Moon and Taurus Rising (in case you were wondering!)

I am of English, Māori (Ngāti Pūkenga), Scottish & Irish decent. I was raised in Tairua on the Coromandel Peninsula, but for the past 30+ years have lived in a beautiful valley in Puriri, near Thames

Manu Series

Ten artworks all dedicated to my bestest furry friend, Manu, my big brave chocolate Labrador
Manu left us on the Aquarius full moon in 2022
He is with me every day when I walk in the hills, when I have breakfast and he wants that last little bit of toast, when I see him sitting at the door waiting to be let inside, when he busts into the toilet when I’m in there, when he laughs (he did!) at my silly play, and when he sat under the table in my art studio
Manu means ‘bird’ in Māori (long story!), which is why the Manu Series is all about the birds
For my boy, Manu, RIP (rest in play)

Summer Series 2023

As I came towards the end of the Manu Series, Spring in Aotearoa was in the air, and I felt the urge (never ignore urges!) to express the colours and feelings of summer
As I reflected on this, I realised that our previous chocolate Labrador was called Ra, which is the name for the Māori and Egyptian Sun God! I have been obsessed with all things Egyptian since early childhood, so I was very excited to see what the Summer Series would reveal
Turns out our summer was wrought with rain, storms and cyclones..but it did mean I had plenty of time to paint!

Thank you for contacting me, I will be in touch very soon!
